Pathfinder Prize Live Pitch Event

Hidden Compass is proud to present our second annual Pathfinder Prize Live Pitch Event! The 2024 Pathfinder Prize finalist teams will pitch their projects live — for a chance to receive a $15,000 grant to fund a global expedition of the modern age. Keep reading to learn more about the finalists, and take note: While the event is free, registration is required.

“The Music of Care” is a musical expedition in India to explore the question: As music is a fundamental element of all major moments in Indian life, how could it be better incorporated into someone’s last moments?

“Beyond the False Summit: A Matterhorn Expedition to Unearth the Queer Pioneers of Alpinism” is a climbing expedition to explore the question: By shining a light on the hidden stories of queer climbers in history, can we write a more truthful narrative to reach a peak beyond the false summit of exclusion?

Following the event, Hidden Compass Allies will have ten days to cast their votes. The winning team will be announced at the 2023 Ethos of Exploration in-person event on December 6.

Bios

Jodi Cash, expedition leader: A journalist, author, and documentary filmmaker, whose first feature-length documentary film is The Green Flash, serving as the expedition’s prospective leader.

Gresham Cash: An award-winning musician, composer, and writer, serving as one of the expedition’s producers.

Dr. Tara Rajendran: An award-winning, classically trained veena player, music PhD student, and medical doctor, serving as one of the expedition’s producers and the medical expert.

Lance Garland, expedition leader: A writer, firefighter, adventurer, and equal rights activist, serving as the expedition’s prospective leader.

Charlotte Austin: An adventure writer, editor, and mountain guide, serving as the expedition guide specialist.

Ian Finch: A photographer, expedition guide, and Royal Marine veteran, serving as the expedition’s photographer.

Jordan Cannon: A professional climber, serving as the expedition’s climbing expert.
