Meet the Expeditioner

Tara Rajendran is a medical doctor, classically trained Saraswati veena player, author, and TEDx speaker from India. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Fine Arts in Veena from Annamalai University and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Manipal Academy of Higher Education. Tara was awarded the President of India’s Rashtrapati Award for her musicianship in 2007. She has also been a leading advocate for integrating music into cancer care infrastructure in India. She founded “Oncology and Strings,” the first physician-led music therapy advocacy program, and has delivered lectures nationwide. Tara hopes to continue bridging music-based interventions and cancer care by researching promising interventions and putting them into practice as a care provider.
