2022 Pathfinder Prize Live Pitch Event
Hidden Compass is proud to present our inaugural Pathfinder Prize Live Pitch Event! The 2022 Pathfinder Prize finalist teams will pitch their ideas live — for a chance to receive a $15,000 grant to fund a global expedition of the modern age. Keep reading to learn more about the finalists, and take note: While the event is free, registration is required.
“In Tété’s Footsteps” is a cultural expedition in Greenland, inspired by Togo-born explorer Tété-Michel Kpomassie, to explore the question: Who gets to tell the story of a place?
“Pharaoh’s Hot Springs” is a scientific expedition to explore the conflicting pressures of tourism, clean energy, and historical and ecological preservation in Hammam Faraun, Egypt.
Following the event, Hidden Compass Allies will have ten days to cast their votes. The winning team will be announced at the 2022 Ethos of Exploration virtual event on December 6.
Bios
Lola Akinmade Åkerström, expedition leader: An award-winning writer, international best-selling author, and photographer, serving as the expedition’s prospective leader and cinematic art director.
Noo Saro-Wiwa: An award-winning author and journalist, serving as one of the expedition’s prospective visual storytellers.
Erik Jaråker: A globe-trotting videographer, serving as the expedition’s prospective videographer and drone pilot.
Dr. Roxanne Fournier, expedition leader: A research scientist who has led teams for projects such as the Canadian Reduced Gravity Experiment Design Challenge, serving as the expedition’s prospective leader.
Sadek Hefni Shorbagi: A research scientist with a background in molecular biology, pedagogy, psychology, and neuroscience, serving as one of the expedition’s prospective researchers and the Arabic translator.
Mathieu Bisnaire Poirier: A biologist experienced in both clinical and fundamental cell biology research, serving as one of the expedition’s prospective researchers.
