Olivia Hall is a 2025 Pathfinder Prize finalist and photographer and writer for “Scorched Earth: Australia’s Wildlife and the Devastation of Bushfires.”
Meet the Expeditioner
Olivia is a storyteller with a passion for creating engaging, multimodal narratives for diverse audiences. Living in the heart of “America’s Amazon,” Olivia’s work is deeply rooted in environmental storytelling. She is especially drawn to exploring the relationships between people and their environments, delving into how individuals and communities perceive, interact with, and are shaped by the natural world.
Her work includes interactive graphic design for the Cahaba River Society and publication design for MEMORANDUM at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has directed documentaries like “Up In Smoke,” which explores the impact of an underground landfill fire, and a film about women environmental activists in Alabama for the Alabama Rivers Alliance. Additionally, Olivia has produced biographical short films about notable Alabamians, blending historical research with creative video collage techniques.
