About the Expeditioner
Lhakpa Angjuk Bhote is the Secretary of the Chyamtang-Kathmandu Welfare Society and a leading defender of Indigenous rights in eastern Nepal. Representing the Bhote Singsa people of Sankhuwasabha, he is challenging illegal practices in hydropower projects that threaten ancestral lands, sacred forests, and the centuries-old yak-herding culture of the Himalayas. As a legal plaintiff, Bhote has exposed forged signatures in government documents and the withholding of information from herder communities. In the Pathfinder Prize expedition, he is a central figure in the story, particularly as he leads the court battles, provides critical updates, and shapes decisions for his community.
