About the Journalist
Kim Stone, a Maine native, has enjoyed horses and photography her whole life. She began riding at age four and took up photography not long after that. She was recognized in High School and College for her attention to detail behind the lens, including sports photography and film development.
Kim first met Martin Black while attending one of his clinics in Maine. Struck by his horsemanship and true-to-life Cowboy roots, a friendship developed between them affording her many unique photo opportunities. Working in the ranch environment with Martin, and other cowboys, allowed her to capture them in their natural working element.
Over the years Kim’s skill in the saddle and relentless pursuit of a good camera shot have resulted in a unique balance of a love for horses and the Cowboy life, a dedication to her family, and a genuine interest in the photographic arts.
Kim’s images have been featured in Western Horseman, Eclectic Horseman, Equus, Horse & Rider, The Horses Mane, Paint Horse Journal, and Hidden Compass.
