About the Journalist
Christopher Clark is a British freelance multimedia journalist, documentary filmmaker and author based in the south of France. His short- and long-form reporting, which focuses on underreported social issues, has appeared in various publications, including Al Jazeera, The Atlantic, Foreign Policy, CNN, The Guardian, Harper’s, The Washington Post, Guernica, Hakai, Monocle, NPR, Reuters, and Vice.
Christopher made his first forays into filmmaking in 2018, and has since co-directed two 25-minute documentaries for Al Jazeeraa’s “Witness” series: “South Africa’s Reluctant Vigilante” and “South Africa’s Deadly Politics.” His solo directorial debut, “The Race,” was released in early 2019 as part of BBC Africa’s series on African masculinity. He has also produced and co-directed short films for Mongabay, TRAFFIC, and the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime.
In May 2022, Christopher’s first book, Clare: The Killing of a Gentle Activist, a work of narrative non-fiction, was published by Tafelberg.
