Meet the Expeditioner
Charlie Connell is a documentary filmmaker hailing from Rochester Hills, Michigan. After earning a BS in Advertising Management from Michigan State University, he enrolled at American University in Washington, D.C., where he is currently working toward a Film & Media Arts MFA with a concentration in Environmental and Wildlife Filmmaking.
“Reviving the Forgotten River,” which explores the trials and triumphs of the Anacostia River in Washington, D.C., premiered on Maryland Public Television, won a Visions Award, and is an upcoming Trees & Seas Film Festival selection. Created in partnership with the National Park Service, “Peregrine Falcon: The Comeback” examines the dangers of chemicals like DDT through the lens of peregrine falcons at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, and “Coyotes in the Capital,” investigates clues that coyotes have been leaving behind in the National Capital Area. Additionally, Charlie has won Visions Awards for video mash-ups and photography. His short documentary, “The Cost of Forever” about the impact of PFAS in Alabama premiered in September 2024.
