Who We Are
We are award-winning writers, editors, and photographers. We have been fortunate to worm our way into fulfilling careers in global travel journalism. Now, we’ve decided to share our calling with others like us: compulsive travelers, defenders of journalism, and curious souls. We are lovers of nature, late-night conversations, and bookstores. We believe that a life dedicated to exploration and expression is an important one. And as your editors, seminar leaders, and fellow storytellers, we are what you invite us to be.

What We Do
We publish stories. We run an online, quarterly travel magazine that encourages the deep exploration of a destination through powerful storytelling. We bridge the gap between travel and other disciplines. Read our contributor guidelines here.
We host seminars and workshops. We bring different types of storytellers — journalists, photographers, writers, poets, scientists, sketch artists — together in spectacular places, where we collaborate to elevate our collective craft.
We build community. We celebrate our members and contributors — even when published elsewhere — and marvel at the beauty of the world and our great fortune to be part of it. Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to hear what our community is up to.
Why We Do It
We founded Hidden Compass based on the aspiration of a worldwide community of artists who travel together, publish together, and share deep stories that push the boundaries of the travel genre. We want to be a home for all the nuanced, narrator-driven, non-listicle stories that need to be told. We want a tribe of storytellers who journey together.
Sound good? Great! Let’s get to work.
